President Message End of The Year Dinner-2013
SPEECH BY OMOOBA ADETAYO OLADELE (PRESIDENT)
AT 2013 END OF THE YEAR DINNER
It is always a thing of joy anytime we come together as a family to discuss things that concern us as members of the family and what united us – Ile-Ife. There is no doubt we are proud of where we come from and we are always looking for a way to make Ile- Ife a better place.
The love and passion we all have for each other and the ancient city propelled us to come together some five years ago to form Ile-Ife Progressive Union Columbus Ohio with a sole aim of:
Fostering love among each other by how better we can be our brother’s keeper
Give our children an identity and also be a blessing to the great city we come from and love so much “Ile-Ife”.
Let me quickly recognizing the efforts made by the pioneers of this great union, without them we will not be here today. I will like to appreciate Elder Charles Omisore who is also the pioneer president, Bishop Charles Awowoyin, Pastor Amos Adetunji, Pastor Yemi Muyide, Mr. Yinka Fawole (Secretary) and my humble self. As you can see, it was and still a gathering of people of God.
Over the years, we have been able to register the Union with the state of Ohio, obtain full fledge non-profit charitable organization status (501c3) with the IRS, and have up and running Facebook and website. (www.ipucolumbus.org)
We have been giving our full support (materially and financially) as individuals and as a union to new Ifes coming to Columbus Ohio and we are always there for ourselves during times of celebrations and otherwise.
On the home front, in 2012 we, as a union were able to present 100 desks and chairs to a primary school in Ile-Ife and another big one in offing next year.
We are also working with other Ife associations and unions within and outside United States.
We will not have been able to do any of these without the commitment, (Physical and financial), of every member.
All that has happened in the past is nothing compare to what the future holds for us. We have a lot to do especially in the area of empowering our members to see and reap the good fruit of this nation (this is a nation flowing with milk and honey and there are a lot of good fruits in it.) and how best we can be of good blessing to those we left at home and good ambassador of our great city “Ile-Ife”.
We can all see that we are blessed with great men and women of God and as the name implies, we are progressive. So, if you are from Ife, the best way is to be part of this great union to contribute your own quota to peoples’ life and Ile-Ife in general. Sitting on the fence is not the best option.
We will be needing more of you in terms of commitment, time and money to achieve our lofty objectives.
I appreciate every member, the executive council, our parents in the house and all our friends and families that are here to rejoice with us. E se adupe o.
Ife a gbe wa o
Omo Oba Adetayo Oladele.
